Sadnesses

Today was a day of sadnesses.

A child who doesn't know their alphabet and yet is nearly twelve.
A child who moves along fine until the moment he stops and cries.
A child who talks about her father kidnapping her for a week when she was four and realizing part of her remains stuck and angry - how did is happen? how could you let it happen? why should care about you? streams across her face.
A child discussed at a meeting. Words like "depression", "bipolar", "obsessive/compulsive", tossed around like so many pieces of paper.
A child who is mute and clearly afraid to speak.
A child today hears a good friend mocked for a stutter and had to stand up to the powerful group.
A child witnesses angry drunkness and had to get away.

Today was a day of sadnesses.

DAYS TO 50: 418
